This new volume, though described as a catalogue, might more properly be approached as the story of Late Roman coinage told through the magnificent collection at Dumbarton Oaks. Novice and scholar, historian and numismatist, will all find satisfying fare. The authors have fulfilled their aims admirably, and-equally important-they have done so at a price that makes their work accessible to virtually every library and scholar of the period.
