The book is excellently illustrated and well laid out, with colour plates, spectra (clearly printed so that the labels are legible), and photomicrographs conveniently placed at the end of each paper, and footnotes at the bottom of each page. The index caters for both art historians materials scientist by including references for authors, ceramic types, site names, and analytical methods.
