The discovery of place names by itself should be acclaimed as one of the great breakthroughs in the history of Maya hieroglyphic decipherment. Despite its seemingly specialized topic, this book should appeal to a wider audience. The study represents another step forward in the process of unraveling the meaning of Maya inscriptions, and brings to the forefront questions that can only be answered through interdisciplinary research.
