MONROE, Bill [William] (Smith) (b. near Rosine, Ky., 1911). Country singer, songwriter, and mandolin player. A founder of bluegrass music.

NELSON, Willie (Hugh) (b. Abbot, Tex., 1933). Country singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

PARTON, Dolly (b. Locust Ridge, Tenn., 1946). Country singer and songwriter.

PERKINS, Carl (b. Lake City, Tenn., 1932). Rock-and-roll and country singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

PIERCE, Webb (b. near West Monroe, La., 1926; d. Nashville, Tenn., 1991). Country singer, songwriter, guitarist, and publisher.

RODGERS, Jimmie [James Charles] (b. Meridien, Miss., 1897; d. New York, 1933). Country singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

SCRUGGS, Earl (Eugene) (b. Flint Hill, N.C., 1924). Bluegrass and country banjo player, songwriter, and singer.

SKAGGS, Ricky (b. Cordell, Ky., 1954). Country singer, guitarist, fiddler, and mandolin player.

(b. McClure?, Va., 1925; d. Bristol, Va., 1966). Bluegrass guitarist, singer, and songwriter.
They played together from 1946 as the Stanley Brothers, later forming the Clinch Mountain Boys.

TWITTY, Conway [Jenkins, Harold Lloyd] (b. Friars Point, Miss., 1933; d. Springfield, Mo., 1993). Country and rock-and-roll singer and songwriter.

WELLS, Kitty [Muriel Ellen Deason] (b. Nashville, 1919). Country singer and songwriter.

WILLIAMS, Hank [Hiram] (b. near Georgiana, Ala., 1923; d. Oak Hill, W.Va., 1953). Country singer, songwriter, and guitarist.
