Request Permission to Reprint or Reuse HUP Material
« Back to Rights & Permissions Main Page
HUP authors: For help on how to obtain permission to use verse, prose, art, maps, etc. in your own manuscripts, please see Permissions Guidelines for Authors.
Before you begin, please note the following:
- You must fill out a separate copy of this form for each Harvard University Press work for which you are requesting reprint permissions.
- Please ensure that any graphic you wish to use is original Harvard University Press content (i.e., it has not been reprinted from another source).
- Harvard University Press does not authorize adaptations or redrawing of graphics.
- Regarding your use of HUP work: Editions or formats that are abridged, expanded, or otherwise altered from the main work you describe are considered different uses (not just different formats) and they are subject to separate review and pricing. You should fill out a separate copy of this form for any variants from your main use.
- Harvard University Press does not grant permission for “all languages.” Requests for alternate languages are considered on a case-by-case basis and may require use of an existing translation.
Please note that partially-completed forms cannot be saved. Use your discretion when requesting large numbers of excerpts; if you are requesting in excess of approximately 20 text passages, images, or lines from poems from a single HUP work, you may prefer to split your request into multiple batches (i.e., fill out the form more than once). Alternatively, you may send your complete list of requested items, along with the other information requested on this form, by mail to:
