The author of this monograph built elaborate apparatus for the study of supersonic sounds. This book contains a brief history of the years of research, a general description of insect sound producing methods, detailed discussions of the sound records, and an appendix containing a calibration of the apparatus and a study of its characteristics. The book is profusely illustrated with photographs, micrographs, and the sound records themselves.
