Harvard University Press has partnered with De Gruyter to make available for sale worldwide virtually all in-copyright HUP books that had become unavailable since their original publication. The 2,800 titles in the “e-ditions” program can be purchased individually as PDF eBooks or as hardcover reprint (“print-on-demand”) editions via the “Available from De Gruyter” link above. They are also available to institutions in ten separate subject-area packages that reflect the entire spectrum of the Press’s catalog. More about the E-ditions Program »
The aim of this study of the Navaho as an individual is to bring together all that is known about Navaho psychology or Navaho personality. The ways in which the Navaho, who call themselves "The People," rear their children are described and discussed in considerable detail and the authors include a report of a testing program carried out by psychologists, psychiatrists, and anthropologists upon several hundred Navaho children. Never before has a many-sided testing program been applied to so many children from a "primitive" group, and the practical implications of the test results and of the whole survey form an important contribution to our knowledge of the Navaho.
