Desk and Exam Copy Policy

All desk and exam copies are provided at the discretion of Harvard University Press.

North and South America

Desk Copies

If a Harvard University Press title is adopted as a text for a specific course and an order has been placed with your college bookstore for a minimum of 10 copies, we will, upon request, provide one “desk copy” at no additional charge.

To request a desk copy, write to us on departmental letterhead and include the following information:

  • Name of college bookstore

  • Course title

  • Number of copies ordered

  • Your complete contact information, including shipping address

Online Exam Copies: free

A “green” alternative to ordering paperbacks, we offer online exam copies free of charge via Digital Comps. To request an online exam copy, follow the “request” link on a book’s page and register. If you are interested in reviewing a book that is not yet available in this program, email hup_coursebooks@harvard.edu.

Paperback Exam Copies, $6 shipping fee per book

Qualifying instructors may request up to three (3) Harvard University Press paperback titles per course for free plus the cost of shipping ($6.00 USD per copy).

To request examination copies, write to us on departmental letterhead and include:

  • Course title and level

  • Semester(s) offered or dates course will run

  • Expected enrollment

  • Text(s) currently used

  • Adoption decision deadline

  • Your complete contact information, including shipping address

  • Payment: A check in U.S. dollars, drawn on a U.S. bank, and made payable to our distribution center, Triliteral, LLC, or credit card information (MasterCard, Visa, or American Express) for the cost of shipping (6.00 USD per copy)

Hardcover Books: 10% off the list price

We offer a 10% academic discount off the list price on prepaid orders of hardcover books for course adoption consideration. To apply for this discount, send a letter of application (as above).
